I had a wonderful time at the College Music Society’s National Conference in Spokane, WA. At the conference, I gave a presentation on my composition, Neon Sounds, and the broader context of this project, which was supported by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council and premiered by Hong Kong New Music Ensemble and Toolbox Percussion at the Hong Kong Arts Centre in March 2024. I also enjoyed hearing a number of new music performances by composers from around the world and several fascinating paper presentations. CMS is always a good place to connect with colleagues, especially across disciplines. In addition to the conference activities, I found Spokane to be a lovely town with excellent food and (most important) wine.
